Thanksgiving Day Gladiolus Food Pantry partnered with Pickle-N-Pub restaurant to provide a Thanksgiving feast to anyone who wanted to attend. 190 hot, tasty dinners were served. Guest enjoyed turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, cranberry sauce, and a variety of desserts.
More than 500 families were able to enjoy their own home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the annual turkey and trimmings distribution held November 22, 2019.
A festive atmosphere filled with upbeat songs spun by DJ Domingo surrounded the pantry, affectionately known as “the little green building,” in Harlem Heights. As recipients awaited their turn, they could partake in face painting and coloring for the children, enjoy hot dogs and popcorn, visit with friends, and even get a haircut.
“Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year,” said Gladiolus Food Pantry founder and director Miriam Ortiz. “God has blessed us with generous donations from the community and with volunteers who give their time. We love our customers and are grateful to be able to help them enjoy this holiday of thanks.”
Our mission is to reduce hunger by providing healthy, nutritious food while treating all who come through our door with dignity and respect.
Canned goods and non-perishable items are always welcome and needed. The food pantry exists because of your generosity.
